Translate and share a POI language card
Download the translation Agent Skill, have AI follow the notecard specification, then install or share your complete Text.alt.
Download the translation Agent Skill
Want your own language in a POI product that supports Translation V2? Download this Skill, give it to your AI with a complete language card, and name your target language.
Download translation Skill (ZIP) ↓
You can also download SKILL.md on its own. The ZIP includes the full Skill and an optional Python validator. Unzip it to get started.
This Agent Skill is a set of translation instructions for your AI. It explains the Notecard specification: entry format, keys, placeholders, newlines, button byte limits and validation rules. The AI uses those rules to produce a usable language card. It works with POI products using Translation V2; check older products' manuals for support.
Give the Skill to your AI
- Download and unzip the bundle. If your AI tool supports installing Agent Skills, follow its installation steps. You can also upload or paste
SKILL.mddirectly into the conversation. - Supply the complete current
Text.enorText.altcontent. Prefer the English reference when both are available; an existingText.altworks too. - Name your target language. For example:
Follow this Skill to translate the complete attached language card into French. Preserve all keys, placeholders, emoji and newline markers, check UTF-8 byte limits, and return the complete Text.alt.txt.
The Skill contains the format rules. Its optional validator checks missing entries, duplicate keys, empty values, placeholders and basic byte limits. Menus also insert names and numbers, so open the translated menus in-world to check the finished result.
Keep the Skill in your AI tool, not inside the in-world object! The generated .txt is text to paste, not an automatically installed Second Life notecard.
What does the notecard specification cover?
- One
key=textentry per physical line. Translate only the text after the first=. - Keep every key, entry order and entry count. No missing entries, duplicate keys or empty values.
- Preserve placeholders such as
{1}and{2}, emoji and literal\nmarkers. Placeholders may move to fit the translated sentence;\nstays inside the same entry. - Set
lang.nameto the language's own name, such asFrançais. It names the destination-language button. btn.values must fit within 20 UTF-8 bytes.lang.nameplus the🌐prefix must fit within 24 bytes.- Each line must be below 1000 bytes. The final assembled menu body must fit within 512 bytes, with room for inserted names and numbers. Many characters and emoji use multiple bytes.
The downloaded Skill includes these rules in full, ready for your AI.
Edit Text.alt in-world
- Open the main object's Edit > Contents and find
Text.alt. For products with several components, check the product manual to locate its language cards. - Open the card and copy its original text into a backup notecard.
- Paste the complete translation into the existing
Text.alt, keeping that exact card name. Leave the English referenceText.enunchanged. - Save, wait a few seconds for automatic loading, and reopen the menu. Use 🌐 [target language] to select the translation if needed. If that language is already selected, reopening the menu shows the updated text.
No script reset or plugin reinstall is needed. Missing translations fall back to English; [Text] chat reports identify missing text, placeholder mismatches or oversized buttons. Some plugin names live outside the language card; check the product manual for coverage.
Spellbound Rope System's language switch
Open ⚙ SETTINGS > ☑ LANGUAGE SWITCH, or ⚙ 设置 > ☑ 语言切换 in Chinese. It's on by default.
Turning it off hides the main menu's 🌐 button and keeps whichever language is currently selected. Turning it back on restores the button without changing that language. You can then use 🌐 to switch. The setting follows the ropes' access rules and applies to this rope system.
For example, select Chinese and turn off LANGUAGE SWITCH to keep the menus in Chinese. To return to English, enable the switch again, then click 🌐 EN.
Share your translation
The Text.alt notecard allows Copy / Modify / Transfer. You can copy the translated card into your inventory and give it to a friend, or share the complete translation as a .txt file.
Your friend backs up their own card, pastes your full translation into their product's Text.alt, keeps its name, and saves. Share with users of the same product and check that the card entries match! The Skill works across products; an individual translation card does not fit every product.
These permissions apply to the translation card itself. Sharing it does not grant transfer rights to the product, scripts or other assets. Your friend's edits affect their own copy.
