RLV
Why doesn't the engine grab the person, or rez at all?
Grabbing requires the controlled person to have RLV enabled with an auto-mode relay; failing to rez means the parcel doesn't allow object creation.
Products with an animation engine, such as The Carry Cage and The Slave Rack, have two common problems:
Problem 1: The engine doesn't grab the person onto it
The engine force-sits the controlled person onto it through their RLV relay.
The controlled person needs:
- An RLV-capable viewer with RLV enabled.
- An RLV relay worn.
- The relay set to auto mode. In ask mode every grab pops up a confirmation, so the engine cannot sit them automatically.
Without RLV, the rest of the product still works, but the engine cannot pull anyone up automatically; they have to sit down manually.
Problem 2: The engine won't rez
An animation engine is an object that must be rezzed (created) on the ground. If the parcel doesn't allow object creation, the engine cannot be rezzed and cannot be used.
- Make sure the parcel lets you create objects: your own land allows it by default; on someone else's land the parcel owner must grant it (right-click your avatar → More → Allow Create Objects), or the parcel must allow it for your group.
- For a quick test, move to a public sandbox that allows rezzing.
Once it is rezzed, if it still won't grab anyone, see Problem 1.
